COFFEE AS BIOGAS AND FERTILIZERS

When brewing coffee, less than 1 % of the nutritional value of coffee is used. The rest remains in the spent coffee grounds, which is most often discarded as waste. This is not only waste of potential, but also an environmental and climate problem.

The Danish Football Superleague club Viborg FF decided to do something about it. Together with Circular Coffee Community and Daka Refood the football club is now collecting and upcycling their spent coffee grounds into biogas and fertilizers. By this we are converting methane gas into biogas and utilize the nutritious as masses that can be used as fertilizers by Danish farmers.

The system is open and available to all kinds of businesses in Denmark.
